My God is so Great!

As I was walking on campus this morning I happened to be at the correct angle where I could see a rainbow in the JQH fountain as I walked by it. I started pondering what a rainbow is, and of course, I thought of the story of Noah. Noah lived during a depraved and completely unrighteous time. In fact the people were so deep in their sins that God said "I'm starting over!" So He picked Noah, the one righteous person left on earth and said, "I will make my covenant with you."

He then destroyed the entire earth with an enormous flood while Noah's family lived safely in the ark that God commanded Noah to build. After the flood was over and the water receded, God again promised to establish His covenant with Noah and his family. As a promise to Noah, that He would never again destroy all the people of the earth, God set a rainbow in the sky after every rain storm.

As I was walking today, that came to me, and I realized that a rainbow is not just a promise to never again destroy everyone on the earth, but rather it is a promise of God's faithfulness. God is 100% faithful all the time. Every morning the sun rises, and every evening it sets. Every year the seasons come and go. Every day the tides come in and go out. Every Spring the flowers and trees bloom, and new life is every where. Every fall the trees and animals hibernate and the pumpkins come (yes, H, that was for you). God never stops being faithful.

Even when we are unfaithful to Him, He always responds in faithfulness to us. Why? Because He is a covenant God. When I heard S talk on this one time, it completely changed my perspective on God. See I am not a faithful lover. I run after other things. I have other gods in my life. And I never will be a faithful lover to Him. I will always fail in being faithful to Him.

But my God is a Covenant God, and what that means is that He has always been faithful to me, and He will always be faithful to me because He has established His covenant with me. He has said to me "I will establish my covenant with you." And He will never go back on that.

How Great is My God!!

P.S.- You make me smile more than pumpkins...but you talking about pumpkins just makes my heart explode.
