Homework finished...stress over senior research--well, I don't think it will be over until the class is. I have to submit three research topics by thursday...and I have no idea what I'm going to research. But that's really beside the point of this post.

*Note: K, fair warning that some of my Greek mythology might be off...sorry!

I want to give you a few thoughts that I had after going to see Percy Jackson and the Olympians with my lovely friend K. K is very into Greek mythology (it is in fact part of her major), so she convinced me to go see this movie with her while the rest of the girls went to see Valentine's Day.

Therefore I had no expectations whatsoever concerning the movie, and perhaps as a result I enjoyed it very greatly. Having a boy with beautiful blue eyes as the main character probably helped, but I really enjoyed some awesome and thought provoking moments as a result of the movie.

The movie centers around the lives of the demi-gods. These are the children of gods and mortals. They are "special" meaning they have special powers, quick reflexes, etc. The main character, Percy, is the son of Poseidon and a human woman. The movie starts with him having no idea that his father is actually one of the "Big Three" the three brothers who are the most powerful gods. He shortly finds out, and his entire world goes spinning out of control.

Throughout the movie there is a continuous theme of these demi-gods longing to know their parents. They obviously know their human parents, but they don't know their parent who is a god. This is because Zeus (the most powerful god), made a decree that the gods could not see or speak to their mortal children. All of these demi-gods are children of god and yet they have no relationship with their father (or mother depending on which parent was a god), and that is the one thing that they long for. They want to see their parent and be known by their parent. They want a relationship with their parent, but it isn't allowed, something is in the way.

This was really thought provoking to me because I think that most people have a longing for that same relationship. Most people would love to be a child of God and to have a relationship with their Heavenly Father, but sometimes they don't know that they are a child of God. Sometimes there is something blocking the way, there is some barrier to that relationship.

There is a scene close to the end of the movie where Percy and his father have a moment together to talk, and his father said something that really stuck with me. He says something to the effect of "I'm always with you. I will always be there with you guiding you and supporting you." That struck such a chord in my heart because my Father is always with me, He is always there to strengthen and support and encourage me, and even when I don't feel Him, He is still there.

What a blessing to have such an amazing Father!!

Anyway...that's all for now..peace out yo!
