and the water is risin' quickly

I heard this song on the radio yesterday...I also realized that I hadn't listened to the radio in a very long time...why listen to commercials when I can listen to the voice of an angel on a cd?

Anyway...I heard this song, and as I was already thinking about changing the title of my blog this just really made me take that final step to change it.

Something Beautiful.

Listen to the words...such a great song.

I am really awake to how faithful God is. He is sooooo good to us. I read Isaiah 54 this morning.

Sing, O barren one who did not bear; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate woman will be more than the children of her that is married, says the LORD. Enlarge the site of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will possess the nations and will settle the desolate towns. Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; do not be discouraged, for you will not suffer disgrace; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the disgrace of your widowhood you will remember no more...For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the LORD, who has compassion on you. ~ Isaiah 54:1-4, 10
This is just a taste of what this chapter holds. Sing, O barren woman! The greatest disgrace at the time this was written was for a woman to be barren. But God tells this same woman to sing for joy because she will have more children than a woman who has been married. I know as a single woman (who greatly desires to be married and have children) that this is a huge comfort to me. And it just so completely speaks of God's faithfulness even in circumstances that we may not see as the best.

How is a barren woman to have more children than her who is married? I don't know. What I do know is that if God promised it, He will cause it to come to pass.

Because He is Faithful.

I serve a God with whom all things are possible. The barren woman can have children. The unmarried woman can enlarge the site of her tent in preparation for the husband and children who are to come. God doesn't ask us to see how He is going to make it come to pass. He just asks us to trust Him and be faithful where we are.

I love the scene from the movie Facing The Giants where the old man from the town who comes and prays over the students every day talks to the football coach. He tells him that there were two farmers and both prayed to God for rain, but only one prepared his fields. Then he asks a key question. Which farmer was blessed when God sent the rain?

The one who prepared his fields.

God will be faithful to us...ALWAYS. It's our job to be faithful with what He has given us. And to stand in awe as He pours out the blessings that will come.

Peace out yo!

  1. I have said this before...the man you marry will be SO lucky. I just hope he realizes how lucky he is. Don't worry, I'll make him realize if he doesn't :-)
