Elizabeth and Darcy
So I was at home the other night before midnight (a strange occurrence in itself) and I decided to have a leftover piece of my birthday cake whilst sitting in my hammock on my deck. It was such a beautiful night. I lay down and was enjoying my cake, and I had a wonderful revelation.
I was thinking about Pride and Prejudice (for some unknown reason), and I thought about how Elizabeth really got an amazing man in Darcy. I mean, really, he was the catch to catch. I never thought before, though, that if Elizabeth had settled for Mr. Collins, she never would have gotten Mr. Darcy.
I think it's because we all know that Elizabeth and Darcy are supposed to end up together. You can tell from the beginning of the book that they are really perfect for each other and they are meant to be together. So we never think what would have happened if she would have listened to her mother and what society said over what she believed to be true of herself.
She knew that she deserved better than Mr. Collins. And she refused to settle for him.
I know most girls who read Pride and Prejudice or watch the movie all want to end up with a Mr. Darcy (I know that I do), but we can't seem to see the Mr. Darcy's in life. As a result we end up settling for the Mr. Collin's instead. Society tells us that we can't do any better. It tells us that we should settle, that our standards are too high. That we cannot possibly be worth what we think we are worth.
These are lies!!! There are still Mr. Darcy's out there. They do exist. And you are all worth more than you give yourself credit for. You are worth a man who is going to treat you like Jesus treats you. I know I'm holding out for that man.
Anyway...I love beautiful Friday's with my lovely K. :)
I was on the radio this morning. And I met a band called Two Cent Offering. They gave me a free hoodie...schweet!! :) Check out their MySpace page here. Great guys!! They will be at Sonshine Festival this coming summer sandwiched between Need To Breathe (my new obsession) and 10th Avenue North. Kind of hoping I might be able to go to that...we'll see what the summer brings.
Lots of great thoughts this morning at Bible Study with K. Oh, and my latest great idea.
God is faithful, and I believe that He has promised me marriage and children, so I am going to be faithful in return. I have decided to open a savings account for my children. I am planning to put a little money into it each month. How's that for preparing the fields? I am planning to marry, and I'm going to live like it and pray boldly for my future husband (as well as the rest of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). And I'm going to be prepared for the rain that God will send.
GAL induction tonight, so I'm dressed up and feeling cute. :) Looking forward to exciting plans in the future.
Peace out yo!
